Concept & Direction
Bookmark Edition is a French publisher passionate about love in all its forms. From romantasy to contemporary romance, both LGBTQIA+ and heterosexual stories are celebrated.
These endpapers were commissioned for Avalon Tower books 1 and 2 written by C. N. Crawford, Wall Street Journal bestselling authors of fantasy romance and urban fantasy.
The illustrations depict key scenes from the story, all set at night, creating a mysterious and magical atmosphere.
Creative Process
The creative process began with a series of rough explorations, searching for the right tone for each scene.
Once a direction was selected, it was refined through detailed sketching before moving into the final illustration.
The main challenge was finding the right moment to capture, balancing the intensity of the actions with the beauty of the scenery.
The same process was used for the other book, though the timeline was significantly tighter.
Black & White Sketches
Alongside the endpapers for the first book, a series of interior black and white sketches was also commissioned. Each piece represents a scene from the story, with selected chapters provided as guidance to shape the compositions.
